Set of two spikes 6” roughly
Dated spikes were driven into railroad boards and metal framing for record keeping purposes. These spikes are from new England. Dated spikes on American railroads were phased out in the 1970s. Spikes are no longer marked with dates or the makers crescent in this manner in North American practice, and the nails are now sought after by railroadiana collectors. The Southern Railway never used date nails they used an embedded makers mark.
Railroad Spikes and nails are a powerful tool for protecting your home and space. They are made of iron which is effective against negative energy and are used for protection of your home and property, keeping mortgage companies, hostile landlords, and the law at bay. They are usually purchases in a pair or four.
With years of labor and toil all around them, they possess a potent energy that can be used as a focus for spells and rituals seeking aid in endurance to see your task through. More traditionally, they can also be used as an "iron nail" in spells and rituals.
Railroad spikes are most commonly used for protection, shielding, and warding because they have been infused with the energy of the diesel or steam trains that run over them. Especially Steam Trains because they are alive, they breathe, they fire up to become active, they have a sort of song they sing with their whistles.
To wake them up, clean with florida water then pour rum over them. If you work with an orisha such as Ogun, or your warriors, or your protective Oggun or deities, you can place them on their altar, asking them to charge them and create a protective barrier around your property. You can also create an amulet by tying two together in a form of a cross and hang it over your front door.
if you live near a cemetery hammer in a spike in the 4 corners of your home outside to create a barrier from energies entering.
