Vintage Russ Berrie Kitchen Witch Grizelda Doll

This is a vintage Russ Berrie Kitchen Witch Grizelda Doll by Kathleen Kelly.  It is a poseable shelf sitter doll, approximately 14-15 inches tall. The figure features a green-faced witch with a wart, wearing a black outfit with multi-colored polka dots, striped green and purple stockings, and a broom.  It has a resin head, hands, and feet, with a cloth beanie body. 

A kitchen witch doll is a Scandinavian/German folklore tradition, a good luck charm representing a benevolent witch meant to protect the home, ensure good cooking (preventing burnt food or spills), and bring happiness, acting as a protector against mischievous spirits in the kitchen.
